Too much rise in temperature and sudden rain encouraged me to think and write something about this topic. When I was a child, I used to spend most summer vacations at my granny’s place. At that time we used to play outside in the sun and never caught any viral infection, but nowadays I can’t imagine my baby playing outside at noon.
Today’s topic is very important as it belongs to our babies. We fulfill our day-to-day responsibilities towards our job, relations, and many other things too. But do we have enough time to think about our nature? I know it’s a big word and more of us will say what can I change alone? But it’s true, we all can change if we try to maintain a few simple habits in our daily routine.
I have seen my mother and grandmother, when they get up in the morning they first join hands and say something then put their legs down on the floor. I asked my mom what you say? She said “I thanks mother earth for bearing my weight “. I smiled and said mom we live on the 1st floor how could mother earth be here, and anyway it’s a planet only. Then my mom replied, “Yes, it is a planet, but it takes care of us like a mother”. This single line makes me think about lots of things which I will discuss today.
We all have read in history that ancient people used to worship rivers, mountains, and earth, etc. Nowadays we are enough literate that we treat the earth as a planet, the sun like a star so we are not attached to them emotionally. In this universe, only nature accepts us despite our condition either we are alive or dead. Do we ever think about what we are doing for our next generation? Earth allows you to stand. Let the earth stand the way it is. Start thinking now and make some really easy changes in your life to make earth a better place to live.
- Save Trees
Try to plant trees on important dates in your life, for example, you can make a habit of planting a tree on every anniversary. Maybe it needs some extra effort but will help the environment as well as improve your relationship too. Nature helps us a lot to improve our mood and trees play a very important role in it. Try to use second-hand furniture if it is in good condition. Join a group that plants trees to help clean the air. - Produce less waste
Use daily need products in bulk to reduce packaging waste. Use cloth bags instead of plastic bags. Buy products that you can reuse. Buy glass containers instead of flimsy plastic ones, for example. - Use a solar-powered outdoor light
This is a beneficial way as these batteries are charged at day time and can be used at night. - Use Sun to heat water for you
Search and consult with local appliance centers, this technology is more available. - Use less electricity
Try to share a room if you live in a joint family, at least in the daytime. Turn down or shut off your water heater when you will be away for extended periods. Turn off unused bulbs, computers, and fans when not in use. Use compact fluorescent light bulbs to save money and energy. Insulate your home as best as you can. When using an oven, minimize door opening while it is in use; it reduces oven temperature by 25 to 30 every time you open the door. - Save water and don’t pollute our rivers
Check and fix any water leaks. A leaky faucet can waste a lot of water. Don’t use too much water to water your lawn and washing your vehicles. Don’t wash dishes with the water running continuously. Use a method that requires less water to get the dishes clean. The chemicals aren’t good for us, either, so do your best to cut back on them. - Don’t waste paper
Use e-mail or texting as a substitute for paper correspondence. Use recycled paper. Reuse items like envelopes, folders, and paper clips. Copy and print on both sides of the paper.
Please read the above points and try to make a habit of using a few of them. Educate others to make a fruitful impact.
